As If My Opinion Matters..

If I was to introduce myself with one word it would be this: I am a sinner, plain and simple. There is no doubt in my mind that yesterday, today, and tomorrow I will consistently fall short of the glory of God. I am a victim of temptation, a slave to self preservation, and a puppet to all things worldly. I consciously choose my will over Gods everyday and then like a fool wonder why my faith hasn’t moved a mountain. I have let my doubts define my path and withhold me from pursing His.

So today I am going to step out of the boat.

I am tired of being the guy that sits in the pews thinking that I’m never going to be good enough to serve my purpose. Thinking that somehow my sin is past the point of redemption and that God’s grace doesn’t extend as far as my transgressions. Truth be told, I will never be good enough to enter Heaven, and I’m not sure that I will ever feel ready. So today, I am going to write this post as if my opinion matters. As if my words can move mountains because honestly, it doesn’t matter what value I or anyone else thinks that they hold. God knows the truth. Jump out of the boat and see what happens, your opinion matters to Him.

“For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

  1. Reblogged this on Why I Follow Jesus and commented:
    Hi Dnnywear

Thanks for the follow *, as the reason I write is to share.
    * (Though my family and close friends say it would be far more entertaining with a video-camera # in “real life”, rather than in cyberspace!)

    # By the way, do they still make them in today’s ever-faster changing world..or is it all done with mobile phones?

(get with the times now,”luddite”* c – it should be a smart phone)

    * or so I was often called by my “my techno-geek” friend, Bill (“the gonk”)

“total non-techno” c (who doesn’t possess a mobile phone, after a rather eventful’ experience some years back, whilst trying to walk, talk and chew gum at the same time)

    Who says men can’t multi-task!

    Kind regards

  2. It is a sad state of affairs when Christians trying to “evangelizing” the people that are “lost, ” use what I term as Christian-Eze. Let me define Christian-Eze for Christians. It is simply Christians have their own talk; words like redemption, propitiation, justification, etc… I try my best to explain the word that I am attempting to use without using the word. It proves difficult at times, but this Christian is attempting to get the most people that don’t know Jesus Christ to KNOW HIM where their faith won’t be shaken by anything. I know I am swimming against the stream of ordinary Christianity, but that is where Jesus Christ calls Christians to be different.~ (Darren)

    • I agree. No one has ever accomplished anything by “swimming with the stream.” In our ever changing culture it is important to recognize the need to contextualize the scripture and relate to our present day world. Furthermore, you cant use scripture to defend scripture. If someone does not believe in Christ, why would they believe the Bible? As Christians attempting to “evangelize” we must start within the plausible framework of whomever we are talking to and work our way towards communicating the truth of Christ. Start with something that is mutually agreeable and discuss how Christianity relates to their already existing belief.
Thank you so much for your comment and insight. I really appreciate open dialogue about our Creator and am grateful for the follow. I hope you continue to find something of value in my blog and hope to hear from you more!
      God Bless you!

      • Contemplating simply means ” to look at thoughtfully for a long time ” which is something that I feel every believer should do. We need to contemplate the scriptures, the theology, the history, the context, etc. To continually help us grow closer to our Lord. I’m not contemplating if Christianity is the right choice, I’m contemplating the various aspects that makes Christianity the right one.

      • Thank you, I will take that into consideration and possibly change it. I understand what you mean and appreciate you pointing that out! God Bless!
